Optical Illusions - Summer learning journey

I made this Optical Illusion on google drawings.

If you strare at it is starts moving.

In the middle I put a small square I found on the web, then made the squares a bit bigger. Then I got another Illusion and turned the transparency down for the circles.

Why has the author chosen to make the ants speak in short sentences and give brief replies? So the ants don't talk for hours and so their instructions are clear and they're busy working.

Show Your Understanding

1. The grasshopper needed food for the next winter.

2. The ants sighed at the grasshopper because it seemed like he was going back to his old ways.

Poster

We are learning to use these design elements in our advertisement:  colours, shapes, lettering, use of space, proportion, composition, symbols and logos.
We are learning to explore our school values.

We did this to learn about respect.

It was hard to fit everything in and to get the characters.  It was fun making the comic though. Hope you enjoy it.

I made this because I wanted to show and tell people about salmon.

Catapult Writing

Our mission was to create a catapult that would fire a tin foil ball. The  materials we had were  15 popsicles and 12 rubber bands and one spoon.

What me and Benny did was stack about 15 popsicle sticks on top of each other then put some rubber bands around the ends of the popsicle sticks so they wouldn’t fall down. Then we put a spoon through the middle of the pile so it was wedged in there tight.

In the competition ours went really far but after it wouldn’t work. Ours won by about 2 meters. (past second place)

The way our’s worked was you pushed the back down and it flicked the tinfoil ball.

We originally wanted to go all for looks and not care how far it went but all the designs we found used hot glue so we decided to just build something that could at least shoot. For that design you hit the spoon and it launched but it only had height. But then Benny fingered out that if you held the spoon down so it was bending it would launch much further.

Next time I think we should make a proper design

Easy Upcycled Catapult {STEM goes green} – Go Science Kidsour  first design looked a bit like

But with popsicle sticks.

P.S. I think the wind died down for a second while we shot the catapult.

A fun afternoon

Narrative writing

Here is some Narrative writing I did.

Shadow Knight

In a time of war there was a knight. That knight was born to rule the forest of the Evil but there was a problem. There was an evil king that had taken over and forced the knights' settlement in siege. The knight had decided to go through to the other side of the forest and take over Lord Darks kingdom.

So one day at dusk the knight got his trusty horse and rode through the forest. When he got near the Dark Kingdom's walls he slowed and tied his horse to a tree so he could move like a fox.

The knight eventually found a hole and squeezed through. Inside the walls of the mighty Dark Kingdom, there were beautiful gardens with waterfalls, and little streams with bridges over them. The knight tried to blend in but a guard with a nifty eye spotted the knight and called the other guards and sentries.

The guards dragged him to see the King who was sitting on his throne. In his mighty deep voice the king bellowed,“ I KNOW YOU! YOU ARE THAT SHADOW KNIGHT! TO THE DEEPEST DUNGEONS MEN!”

The dungeon looked bare and dark. The knight stumbled around until he found a small table with a candle and some matches. The knight got the candle lit and looked around. He found a cupboard but it was locked with a padlock. The knight then found a small rod of metal and started picking the lock. After about 10 mins the cupboard's lock sprang open. The cupboard was small apart from a  small crow bar. The knight smashed down the door and  ran up a flight of stairs when he heard someone coming. The knight ran into another room and hid.

But then the knight realized that he had entered the head gallery. The door started slowly opening so the knight dived behind a pile of heads. A group of guards marched in and started searching for something. After about ten minutes they found the thing they were looking for. It was what appeared to be a key. The guards marched over to a painting of a head and slotted the key into a small key sized hole. The painting swung open revealing a couple gliders. The guards took a glider and shut the painting. Then the guards returned the key then left. When the knight thought the guards weren't just around the corner he went over to where they put the key. The knight got the key and went over to the painting and grabbed a glider then snuck through the deserted corridors until he got to a high point. The knight got on the roof of the tallest tower and strapped on the glider.

Right before the knight was about to jump the guard got pulled back by a group of guards... The knight got the crow bar and started blindly hitting hoping he would hit some guards. After a while the guards lo0sended their grip and the knight ran and jumped. At first the knight thought that the glider wasn’t working. But then  the Knight realized he was aiming for the ground. The knight quickly pulled up and only just got out over the wall. The moment the knight got over the wall all the centres started shooting their bows at him. After a while the arrows couldn’t get close and the knight landed in a small patch of grass by his village. The knight was happy he was still alive but his village wasn’t too pleased that he didn’t KILL the evil king.

What was my favourite post?

What was my favourite post? Probably the one about your future.
What was my least favourite post? I don't know what my least favorite post is because there are a few I don't like much.
3 things I learned are? I earned about AJ Hackett, how they wrote in shakespearean times and that I wouldn't wan't to do a famine.

For next year's (2021) I would like a program to go for longer.

Would I like to do a famine?

Would I like to do a famine?
No cause naturally it is disturbing.
Not eating for a day or two would be awful.

Inspirational quote

Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough.
THIS STORY IS NOT TRUE!
I fall when I sneeze and people laugh at me. I get bullied for being weak. I can't stand it so I search the web. The found this quote that really helped me... Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough.

27 Names

27 Names is not a good name for a clothing store!
The name would be better if it was called
27 clothes.

27 Names doesn't sound like a clothing store it sounds like a place you choose names for your kids.
That's what I think!
What do you think?
