Boat

Today I didn't have much time to make my boat. I decided to do something really easy. I got a rubber band propelled propeller and taped it onto a plastic box. Like an aeroplane it goes propeller first. I couldn't fill up the bath because of my brother was on the toilet. I put it in the sink but it hit the sides nearly instantly because it wasn't a very big sink.

PS, I couldn't find a way to show the video so I put in a picture.

I love how you figured out how to propel your boat! I see you came across many challenges along the way. Well done for overcoming them. I also see that you did not have much time to make a boat. If you had more time, would you have made it better?
I’m looking forward to seeing more blogs!

  2. Kia Ora Cameron,

My name is Zana and I am a blog commenter from the summer learning journey.

I really enjoyed this activity as I used to love making boats with my brother and racing them down the creek!

I think your boat looks awesome for a quick build and it is great to hear that it floated in the sink. If you had more time what would you add to your boat to improve it?

Keep up the good work and I hope to see more of your posts during the Summer Learning Journey!!

  3. Kia ora Cameron,

It’s Fiona from the Manaiakalani team. It is great to see you having a go at the step it up challenge by creating a self propelled boat!

I think you have done a great job of creating a boat that floats, and is self propelled in a short time. I wonder how far your boat would travel if you had had a larger body of water (like the bath) to test it in? It’s great to see that you persevered to overcome several challenges so that you could successfully complete this task - well done!

Keep up the good work. I look forward to seeing more great mahi from you during the summer learning journey.
