  1. Hey there, Cameron!

    Ruby here, from the SLJ.

Thanks for your interesting description of the weather down in Greymouth! I have not been down there myself, however I can really relate because I am from Wellington, which I'm pretty sure is officially the windiest city in the world! Gosh, that wind can be tough, can't it?

"The Barber" - makes me laugh. What a cool description of the natural forces. I will have to remember this one next time the wind is cutting up here, as it can certainly get like that too for us at winter time. Isn't it the worst when you get that barber wind AND that sideways rain at the same time? I don't know if you ever experience that in Greymouth, but honestly it's impossible. There's even a company here in Wellington that created an umbrella that is meant to be especially crafted for Wellington weather, but I've seen pictures of them flipped inside out as people try unsuccessfully to secure themselves for an outdoor exursion!

I'm enjoying summer too. I'm curious to know what you like to do on summer days. Are there some outdoor activities that you particularly enjoy? What are some of your favourite places to go in Greymouth? I would love to hear more about it!

    Keep up the great writing,

    Ruby

  2. Mōrena Cameron!

It is Charlotte here from the SLJ commenting team!

Your description of the weather in Greymouth is amazing! I was in Greymouth/Hokitika a few weeks ago and even though it’s summer, it was raining a lot!! Apparently there is 12 metres of rainfall down there each year! It definitely seems so. I am in Tauranga now so I'm out of the cold and wet!

I have to agree with you- I prefer summer a lot more than winter!! You can go out adventuring and having fun in summer!

My goodness, that Katabatic wind sounds horrible!! It’s funny how it’s nicknamed the Barber!! Very accurate name for it, it seems!

What summer activities do you like to do? As I recall, you like to fish? I like fishing! I went out last night and caught a few snapper! I’d love to hear more about what you like to get up to in the summer months!

Keep up the awesome mahi, Cameron!

    Ngā mihi nui,
    Charlotte :)
