Instrument

Currently I am on holiday in Nelson so it was much more difficult to make a musical instrument. The one thing they do have in a motel is cups and water. I filled up 3 wine glasses with water. The more water in the cup the lower the pitch because the water stops the cup from vibrating.

My name is Quein and I am a blog commenter for the Manaiakalani Summer Learning Journey. It is fantastic to see that you are engaging in the SLJ activities. It is really good to see your creativity and imagination shine through in your taskas and posts such as this one as it is really good to see that you have created sound with wine glasses and water. Did it make a nice sound? It was fantastic to see you include your observation and findings in your blog posts as you deduced that “the more water in the cup the lower the pitch”- Ka Pai!!!

Do you enjoy playing instruments? I used to play the drums when I was younger and I really enjoyed listening to the beats and rhythms.

Keep up the Super work and I hope to see more of your posts during the Summer Learning Journey!!

    Ngā mihi,

  2. Kia ora Cameron!

I hope you are having a great time on your holiday in Nelson. Are you and your family visiting people there or are you taking in the sites? I would sure like to visit Cable Bay one day and to hike in Abel Tasman.

It's great that you have found the time to fit in your Nanogirl activity while you are away on holiday. I really like that you have been resourceful and used the motel cutlery! You have also given an elegant explanation of the variation in sound according to the amount of liquid. This explanation supports your image well.

Have you got any highlights planned for your week in Nelson?

    Look forward to your reply.
    Nga mihi nui
